The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas. From our observation point, we will feel the ground tremble and see the night sky explode with ash and lava in a natural display of fireworks. We will visit the hot springs of Arenal, where we will relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. This is absolutely an evening we will not want to miss.

Cerro Chato Hike + La Fortuna waterfall

The journey begins with a drive around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," where we will begin the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we reach the top we will visit a lagoon, where you can take amazing photos of this body of water created by the volcano’s past eruptions. We will start our descent at this point, traversing through a very dense forest and appreciating birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees. Throughout the descent one can see beautiful views of the San Carlos Valley and the Arenal Volcano. The hike ends at La Fortuna Waterfall, where you can taste the cold fresh waters of this natural wonder as well as the beautiful natural landscape. After the refreshing swim we will return to Nayara by car. This hike is strenuous, it has an inclination of about 70 degrees, and it is recommended for people in good physical condition. To reach the waters of the the waterfall you need to descent approximately 200 meters (600 feet) roughly 500 steps.
