| When we met about two and a half years ago, Robert was a groomsman in the wedding of a friend from Comfrey, and I was the bartender on duty the night of the rehearsal dinner. After the wedding party finished eating, Robert and a friend came to sit at the bar and strike up a conversation with me. We chatted intermittently throughout the night as I helped other customers, and we were so comfortable together right from the start, like we had known each other forever. He tipped me well (which I've since learned is really saying something :) ) and we had a great time talking, but at the end of the night, he waved goodbye and left. (He said later his plan had been to come back in a few weeks and hope I was working again!)
Lucky for me, the friend who had been sitting with him at the bar stepped in. Once they were in the car he asked Robert, "Did you get her phone number?" Robert told him he hadn't and the friend dogged him a little, and it appeared Robert wasn't going to change his mind. So the friend told him that if he wasn't going in to get my phone number, HE was (the friend)! Apparently that didn't sit well with Robert, as he did come back about 5 minutes later to get my phone number :)
We talked on the phone quite a bit over the course of the next few weeks, and soon started dating. It didn't take long for either of us to realize we had found something amazing. We quickly became best friends and our relationship continued to grow, despite our 75-mile one way commute to see each other :) And now here we are! We're so excited for this next step in our relationship and our life together to follow. |
